| Applications often ask you if you've ever applied to their company before. If you check yes when you actually did apply for the job before, are you looked at more favorably since you come across as having more interest in the company? Also, what if you did apply for the same exact position but checked that you didn't, despite it being two years ago or more? Couldn't you just say that you forgot since it was so long ago. What if you created a new online account with a different email but still listed the same information regarding personal details/resume submission, would the company still have your old account/information/resume on file? |

| I've gotten this on phone screen calls and on-line applications. I figure it's the ''kiss of death'' because they didn't hire me the first time. |

| yes, and i will keep applying until i get a job because i like the goals of the company... just because you were turned down last time doesnt mean they wont hire you forever, you just got out competed... so in the mean time, you show them this is what you've done since you last applied and why you are now a better candidate. unless you assaulted/offended someone last time, they didnt turn you down for personal reasons, so dont take it personal doesnt work if you apply repeatedly as in every week/month because you cant improve skills in such times. i mean more as in apply a year or two later. some govt jobs even say not to apply again for a year. |

| I can't recall any of my previous applications asking if I've ever applied before. They did ask if I ever WORKED there before. |

| It may or may not be the kiss of death. I was laid off from my previous job. I applied and interviewed for three positions at my current company. I did not get hired for any of them. I know I didn't have the ideal qualifications for two of the positions. The third position would have been the best fit, but they did not choose me. Five months later, another position opened up that I applied for. I found out one of the people that would be interviewing me was a manager that I had interviewed with before. I was afraid that would be a bad thing because she had already rejected me. I went to the interview and it went well. The manager I had previously met was not the manager of the position but participated in one of my interviews. She was very nice and when t was over, she walked me out and asked how I felt about working in a cubicle. I was hired for the position and really like it. I'm glad I didn't get the positions I was rejected for because the department I'm in is a great fit for me. I was also told by the repeat interviewer's manager that even though she didn't hire me before, she passed my resume along to her boss and they passed it along to my current boss when his position came open. You just never know, and you shouldn't let it stop you from applying for a job you want. |

| Always say know to this. Saying yes to this question just means they rejected you last time. They don't care for what reason, they just know they looked into you and rejected you. You have to understand that they have a lot of apps to go thru. Why do the work twice? |

| I was laid off once from a position and re-applied the next year when it was posted. Never got a call. I found that odd as it was small agency and they told me when they laid me off due to state budget cuts how they "hated to do it". Me and 5 others. So now the money was flowing and they never called me back. That hurt a lot, but after that I gave up trying to figure these types of situations out. I've been applying over and over to this one local hospital system and have been asked that before. I think next time I am going to say a big, fat "NO!" LOL |
